A musical work - Camille Saint-Saëns - Carnival of the Animals – will be performed for the first time in Dargaville, at the afternoon event.
Kevin will be joined by Nolene Osbaldiston on piano and his aunt, Barbara Adams will narrate.
When the recent Music Room wing was added to the Dargaville Museum, manager, Pene McKenzie wanted the museum to feature live music, to compliment the displays of instruments and local music history.
“With this in mind, the popular annual afternoon of music features talented musicians from around the greater Kaipara area as well as visiting guest artists,” she said.
“This year will be no exception, with performers including the young string trio from Whangarei, The Martin Sisters on violin, Karam David, a popular vocalist from Mangawhai,
and the newly established group Whiskey Business from Matakohe/Ruawai. They will be performing a range of styles including bluegrass, country, blues and cajun, featuring seasoned musicians Davey Godman, vocals/accordion; Joan Emmett Brown, accordion; Peter Flower, mandolin, guitar and vocals; Jen Calthrop, guitar, vocals and accordion; and Maura Flower on vocals and flute. The afternoon will also feature piano soloist Nolene Osbaldiston and Dargaville’s up and coming star vocalist, Cindy Randall.
“The second half of the concert will feature Lionel Reekie, from Auckland who’s back by popular demand, and close with Kevin Friedrich who will perform both as a soloist as well as in conjunction with Karam David, Cindy Randall and Nolene Osbaldiston. The afternoon will close with a jam session.”
Sunday afternoon, March 21st at 1:00pm at the Lighthouse Function Centre. Admission, $15.00 ($5.00 for school children) and includes afternoon tea.
