Innovative Treatments Available

Spot is enjoying his equi-massage

The addition of Equine therapy and Japanese-style acupuncture are innovations that have been added to services at Two Waters Physical Health, previously Ruawai Physiotherapy.

These are in addition to top quality physiotherapy for sports injuries, back and neck injuries, post-op and post fracture rehabilitation. The acupuncture is for musculoskeletal injuries, chronic pain, headaches and women’s health.

“Last year, I spent some time researching Japanese acupuncture. The Japanese technique is more subtle and gentle than traditional Chinese acupuncture and has a more holistic approach,” said clinic owner and physiotherapist, Lynne Butterworth.

“I have been having great success using this in the treatment of women’s health issues and also with chronic pain and headaches. Acupuncture should be considered as a form of treatment. “If you are nervous of the needles, there are other ways of tapping into the acupuncture points.”

As regards equine therapy, I have had a keen interest in horses for many years and have also been doing physiotherapy on my friends’ horse’s as well as my own.

“I will visit and can help with sore backs, muscle strains, swollen joints (if no infection is present) and tendons. I use therapeutic ultrasound, acupuncture and equine massage therapy,” said Lynne.

Also available is a range of creams and rubs, sports supports, hot packs and therapeutic pillows. ACC still subsidises physiotherapy treatments, and you can see a physiotherapist without a referral. For more information, contact Lynne on 09 439 2913.
