With National Volunteer Week underway the Kaipara District Council has decided to relaunch its Citizens Awards to recognise contributions and achievements of outstanding citizens in the community.
The awards were once handed out annually from 2001–2012.
Nominations are sought for individuals who reside in the Kaipara district and have shown leadership, inspiration, or dedication to a cause contributing to the community, and will close on July 31.
“These Awards are for anyone you think does a great job in our community,” said council community facilitator, Darlene Lang. Mayor Greg Gent said he “is very pleased” to see the Citizen Awards reinstated and looks forward to having a more formal way to recognise all of the great work that goes on in the community again.
Nomination forms are available from the KDC website kaipara.govt.nz, customers service centres and Kaipara libraries.
A presentation event will be held in October 2017 to recognise the winners.
