The Northland Youth Summit arts festival is being hosted by Dargaville this year with spaces for 60 people in five creative workshops to be held on Wednesday and Thursday 6 and 7 of September.
The summit, organised by Creative Northland, aims for youth to develop the confidence to speak up about the issues that matter to them and their communities. The workshops cover digital film/video, music, paint and mural, performance and theatre, and 3D projection mapping.
Participants will be in the Dargaville town hall during the day and stay overnight at the Oturei Marae with travel and food included. To apply you must be between the ages of 12-24 and from the Northland region. There are 60 spaces, with 10-12 people in each workshop.
Event coordinator Sarah Miln said: “For anyone thinking of coming, this will be a great opportunity to join youth from all over Northland for two days to talk about issues that matter to you. There is something for everyone, no experience necessary, just a willingness to join in and create something special.”
The event is free and supported by the Kaipara, Whangarei and Far North District Councils, the Northland Regional Council, North Tec, Whangarei Youth Space, Resene, Foundation North and Creative New Zealand.
Registrations close Friday, August 11.
