For the third year organisers of the annual Ararua Community Horse Trek are inviting riders to register for one of the biggest community hall fundraisers. The trek begins at 10.30am on Saturday, March 23.

Riding through farmland, tracks and roads in the community area, the trek is suitable for all ages and experience levels; however, those under 16 years must be accompanied by an adult rider.

“There are usually between 25 and 30 riders, but we would like to attract more,” said organiser Beth de Groot. “No dogs, stallions, lead rein or walkers are allowed.”

A group safety briefing is given before commencement to identify road crossing areas where traffic control will be provided, and a social gathering with a barbecue is provided at the completion of the ride.

All funds raised are donated towards the upkeep of the community hall and for providing events in the community. To increase the value of the donation organisers are seeking a trek sponsor anyone able to help can contact Beth.
The cost is $30 an adult and $10 for riders under 16 years.
