The White Rock Gallery has a birthday event

Art for the festive season

Art and a little music are on the Christmas menu at the White Rock Gallery, based in an annexe of The Kauri Museum at Matakohe, on December 15.

“We are opening our Christmas Exhibition,” said gallery committee member and artist Sue Taylor. “We are putting on a bit of a do with some entertainment, which will be Lynn Walters, who is a decoupage artist and member of White Rock. Lynn has just moved to Tinopai.”

An interesting, varied and eclectic collection of creative work from Kaipara artists and craftworkers will make up the exhibition, with a wide choice of Christmas gift ideas. The exhibition will continue during the holidays and “all are welcome between 1pm and 4pm, and there will be beverages and nibbles as well.

“The wide range of work for sale includes oil paintings, watercolours, sculpture and lots more.”

The gallery is also celebrating its first birthday at Matakohe, after it was initially housed in the former Otamatea County Council chambers at Paparoa, now home to the town’s medical centre and library.
