Celebrating the oldest game

This year’s class of young players at the Dargaville Tennis Club is one of the biggest ever mustered, with coaches putting the success down to the improved facilities offered by Dargaville’s Sportsville complex. President Peter Bond, coach Chris Fife and club secretary Martine Topia are excited to see the progress among their 35 young proteges, who gather each Wednesday for practice on the courts where netball was played during winter. “It’s great to see so many kids interested in learning a new sport, getting outdoors and having fun. We don’t need them to have any previous experience because we can teach the fundamentals and still have a great time,” said the coaching staff.
