Honouring lost friends
by Liz Clark
Mangawhai’s Josh Forbes decided to start a car club and formed The Lost Boys as a way for himself and club members to honour friends lost to suicide.
“I wanted to do good with it and involve it in some way with mental health.
We are one big family, and all have each other’s back with life itself — we are here for each other.”
Josh (24) says, although The Lost Boys is a relatively new club, there are now a few members. Plans are in progress to attend some events other organisations are running to promote awareness of mental health and youth suicide issues.
The club meets up most weekends to work on each other’s cars, strengthen friendships, cruise or go to car meets.
“It doesn’t matter what you drive,” says Josh.
“Everyone’s welcome — it’s about a love for cars, car advice and hanging out with good people.”
