The classics on show

ANZAC cinema manager Vern Woods and assistant manager Tommy Fowlie

The Dargaville Rotary club’s third annual Classic Film Festival starts this weekend and runs from June 16-21.

All films are shown at the Anzac cinema and the festival kicks off with 1964’s musical My Fair Lady at 6.45pm on Friday. Doors open at 6pm, with nibbles and drinks provided for a gold coin donation. Dress to theme is encouraged! Other films include Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Bonnie and Clyde, Mary Poppins, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, East of Eden, Midnight Cowboy, The Wild Bunch, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and more. Tickets can be bought over the counter or online. Normal ticket prices apply but as a special festival deal — buy three tickets and the fourth is free for over the counter sales only. Gift vouchers and complimentary tickets are not redeemable for festival screenings.

Manager at Anzac cinema Vern Woods says the theatre is proud to host the festival, as it is in line with the cinema’s aim to offer different options to the community.
