The Nashville dream

Northland artist Shavonne has been nominated for the Josie Awards in Nashville

Northland artist Shavonne’s country music is popular on Dargaville’s Big River FM, and she has been nominated for the upcoming Josie Awards for independant artists in Nashville Tennessee.

Shavonne says it is thanks to local listeners and radio stations that she has been nominated in three categories: traditional country vocalist of the year, rising star and song of the year for her song titled ‘I’ll love you more and more’.

“Shavonne is young and presents some of the best ‘traditional’ country music we have had from a local artist. It is great to see a Northland artist be nominated in the International awards. Our listeners enjoy her talent and we look forward to seeing where her future takes her,” says Big River FM country music presenter Phil Godfrey.

“Her style is very similar to Patsy Cline and every week we receive requests for her songs.”

The singer lives in Kaikohe with her parents and has been releasing her music for just two years and says being nominated for the awards is a huge honour.

Another popular song is ‘All I’ve got is yours’. “I am still speechless. It is beyond words to think someone from Northland, New Zealand has been recognised across the world and my Kaipara audience has helped get me there,” says Shavonne.

“I am also placed at number two of the top 200 country radio airplay internationally and number 15 on the top 40.”
