TVNZ’s My Kitchen Rules (MKR), in conjunction with the Dargaville Community Development Board is looking for new contenders to star in the 2018 season. The show is especially looking to showcase teams from Northland and the DCDB is encouraging Dargaville residents to enter, with a grand prize of $100,000.
The show involves six teams cooking for the other contestants and judges in their own kitchens, with local ingredients. After the meals are served, each opposing team and judge rates the meal out of 10. The lowest scoring team then risks elimination.
Applications close on Friday, December 1. Only teams of two can apply and if accepted, they will need to be available between the date they applied and Monday, December 11, for an interview.
From there, six teams of two will be selected for the show and notified before Christmas.
Episodes will be filmed between mid-February and the end of March 2018.
Contestants are required to commit to the filming process for at least 6-8 weeks, depending on if they make it to the grand final or not. “If a Dargaville pair make it into the top six, the town will benefit as their cooking episode will showcase Dargaville and our local produce,” said DCDB development manager Lorraine Davidson. “We would encourage any self-confessed foodie to seize the opportunity to represent Dargaville, and gain an unparalleled experience.”
