Community health organisation, Linking Hands, will celebrate ten years of service this month and is inviting residents of the surrounding area to join the festivities.
Since its inception in Maungaturoto, the organisation has been connecting clients with health services through its free transportation service.
Relying upon a current army of 59 volunteers, the organisation’s shuttle service fleet has evolved from a single ten seater van, to a fleet of seven vehicles and has expanded to include: Mangawhai, Kaiwaka, Ruakaka and Waipu.
Spokesman, Andre van den Berg, says the surrounding local communities have distinguished themselves by supplying volunteer drivers, administration staff, and donations to keep the organisation flourishing.
The celebrations will be held on Saturday, March 17 in the St John Hall, Maungaturoto from 2pm to 4pm.
RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org by March 10, for catering purposes.
