A Kaipara Christmas

The 2017 Maungaturoto Christmas Parade presented an interesting collection of characters in the display

While recent snowfalls in the South Island lead people there to think of a white Christmas, the Kaipara District should be sunny with clear blue skies and fine weather — particularly for the various Christmas parades scheduled in December.

On December 8 at noon, the Dargaville and Northern Wairoa Lions Clubs combine to host the Christmas parade, starting and finishing at Northern Wairoa Boating Club travelling Victoria Street. There is also a Silver Fern Farms sponsored community event at Dargaville Swimming Pool from 1pm to 4pm, and Christmas in the Gardens will provide entertainment from 6pm to 8pm.

Maungaturoto’s Christmas parade begins at 4pm on Saturday, December 22 from the Good News Church on Hurndall Street and will finish at Maungaturoto Primary School at 4.30pm.

Following the parade will be a Christmas festival with entertainment and a Santa’s grotto. For entries and further information contact Terri Donaldson on 021 0222 0218.

On December 16, a Christmas parade will start at 10am from the bottom of North Avenue and finish at 11.30am at the Mangawhai Activity Zone.

There, Santa Claus will be available for photos and the Kaipara District mayor will be judging the floats in the procession.
