Show a roaring success

What’s better than a school fair? One with acres of shiny hot rods and classics!

The threat of inclement weather was by no means enough to deter an avid bunch of petrolheads and auto appreciators descending on Maungaturoto on the weekend of November 25, to enjoy all the fun of the Maungaturoto Primary school’s annual car and bike show.

Rain skirted the venue, but barely a drop or two fell on the field of classics, hot rods, bikes and exotic automobiles lined up in their glory for the perusal of a massive crowd. While mums and dads checked out the artistic steel on wheels, kids enjoyed bouncy castles, fairground snacks and a classic sausage sizzle. Live music made the carnival atmosphere of the day complete.

A massive swag of prizes was handed out thanks to the generous sponsors of the day, which had been organised for the second year in a row to help raise funds for an educational school camp experience. Targets were healthily exceeded as the bucket-toting volunteers on the gates collected the coins, ensuring that a great school camp for 2019 is green-lit and underway. So, too, is next year’s car and bike show — those who missed out this year are encouraged to mark the date November 24 in their diaries and join in the fun!
