Out there for the kids

Ray White’s Dargaville team swapped their desks and computers for tongs and aprons on Thursday, May 16 to join in a fundraiser for the national Ronald McDonald House Charity, helping keep families with sick children together in their time of crisis.
Local Ray White Real Estate owner, Jean Johnson, says that this particular cause is one that has touched the lives of many west Kaipara residents, who have either had children in their own extended family referred to the National Children’s Hospital, Starship, for treatment, or have friends and neighbours who have been in a similar situation. The Ronald McDonald House Charity operates not one but two large Auckland facilities able to accommodate the families, caregivers and relatives of children in need of in-hospital care. Thus the choice to take a break from the business of property and fire up the barbecue, with the generous help of Silver Fern Farms, who provided steak and sausages. Cupcakes and an entire chocolate cake were also up for grabs as townsfolk filled the buckets with donations to assist in the good work Ronald McDonald House continue to do in keeping families close when medical emergencies strike. The appeal, and the help of Jean and the team is an annual occurrence in Dargaville.
