A snow globe full of kids in seasonal costume made spectators envious in the summer heat — if only it was real snow!

Festivities were in full swing last weekend as families took advantage of the fine weather to visit Dargaville’s Christmas Parade, followed by Silver Fern Farms’ Community Whanau Day, back to back.
With floats from local schools, clubs and businesses, fire engines and ambulances, and even a roaring V8 Holden race car in the mix, the man in red took a sunny seasonal break from the North Pole to cruise the main street in a friend’s BMW convertible. Afterwards, it was time for swimming togs and barbecue goodies, horse rides and bouncy slides, among all the other action at the big Community Whanau Day brought to the community by Silver Fern Farms, with the assistance of the many civic-minded folks from the Tamariki Collective.
Fun in the sun was the first big present of Christmas for all attendees.
