Teddy bear fence

As part of the Lockdown Teddy Bear Hunt, Mangawhai artist Nicky Everett painted a teddy bear in a convertible car to put on her fence. “It represented the little girl next door’s ride-on car, and then her brother wanted a painting of his quad bike. We ended up with bunnies for Easter, someone on crutches, Anzac bear and a bear in a sling for a boy who broke his arm,” said Nicky. She painted one a day until the fence was full with someone helping her with extra paint when she ran out. “I used linen fabric, and they have been out in all weather and survived. Each bear that represents a particular child will go to them. It has been lovely entertaining the neighbourhood families with my artwork.”
