Water, light and nature
by Andy Bryenton
Muddy Waters Gallery in Dargaville is hosting a new exhibition by Te Kopuru-based artist Betty Paul who has “a portfolio, which includes scenes, both tranquil and dramatic, holding up a mirror to our natural environment.”
As an artist working predominantly in the still life and landscape genre, Betty has an affinity for capturing the movement of water.
”I was once commissioned to paint a portrait of the beautiful foreshore of Mairangi Bay, to be presented to the captain of a ship of the same name,” said Betty.
“This forthcoming exhibition contains examples of scenic views from the lakes at Wanaka to rivers in Canterbury, all the way up to images of the north.”
The exhibition is open to the public now and will be free to view until the Muddy Waters Gallery prepares to host the Kaipara Art Awards collection toward the end of the month.
